Running in a strong breeze after a gale in the Southern Ocean, the mighty ‘Moshulu’ heads towards Cape Horn under topsails.
Originally built as the Kurt in 1904 for G.J.H. Siemens & Co. of Hamburg, the ‘Moshulu’ was arguably the strongest and fastest steel square-rigger ever built.
She became widely known in Eric Newby’s book, The Last Grain Race. ‘Moshulu’ now lies in Philadelphia.
